Harmon, Inc. is seeking a talented 3D Preconstruction Modeler to enhance our early-phase design and estimating processes for complex facade and glazing projects. In this role, you will leverage Rhino 3D to develop precise, data-driven models that aid in quantity takeoffs, system evaluations, scope definition, and pricing strategies throughout the preconstruction phase.
The ideal candidate will prioritize precision, constructability, and data extraction over mere visual aesthetics. You will collaborate closely with estimating, engineering, and management teams to translate architectural designs into practical facade systems.
POSITION SUMMARY
Your primary responsibility will be to implement and execute parametric estimating using Rhino technology, creating Grasshopper programming templates.
Create detailed Rhino-based 3D models for curtain wall, storefront, window wall, and architectural glazing systems during the preconstruction phase.
Interpret architectural drawings and specifications to accurately model facade geometry, unitization logic, infill conditions, trims, and intermediates.
Structure models for effective quantity takeoffs, system comparisons, alternates, and value engineering studies.
Adhere to company modeling standards for layers, attributes, naming conventions, and tagging to ensure uniformity and dependable data output.
Collaborate with estimating teams to ensure that modeled quantities align with pricing assumptions and proposal scope.
Support design-assist initiatives and early engineering by modeling system concepts, unit breakdowns, and facade logic.
Update models in response to evolving designs and assist with preconstruction revisions, alternates, and scope clarifications.
Coordinate with engineering and detailing teams for a smooth transition from preconstruction to downstream workflows when applicable.
EXPERIENCE
What You Need to Succeed
Minimum of a 2-year degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
5 years of relevant work experience.
Proficient in CAD technologies for building modeling.
Ability to read and understand architectural drawings is essential.
AEC or relevant construction industry experience is required, with knowledge of facade and glazing system components.
