Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS), providing expert care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures. This role involves direct patient care and accountability throughout all phases of cath lab operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform as the first scrub assistant during adult diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures including PTCA, stents, IVUS, Angiojet, cutting balloon, IABP, Rotoblater, and permanent pacemaker or defibrillator insertions.
  • Operate fluoroscopic equipment and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology (EP) studies, utilizing specialized EP equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to support hemodynamic monitoring and electrocardiograph interpretation.
  • Manage radiographic injection techniques and manipulate hemodynamic recording and procedural record equipment.
  • Ensure proper sheath removal and hemostasis using manual and device methods.
  • Maintain inventory and supplies through computerized tracking systems and collaborate with materials management for requisitions and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide leadership and serve as a resource for staff regarding equipment and supplies, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a formal ARRT, RCIS, LPN, RN, or allied health program, or at least one year of practical healthcare experience.

Experience

Preferred minimum of two years working in an interventional cardiac cath lab. Experience with peripheral vascular angiography and interventions is a plus.

Certifications and Licenses
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • IABP experience within six months of hire.
  • Must hold CCI-RCIS and/or ARRT-CI credentials or obtain CCI-RCIS within 18 months of hire.

Physical and Mental Requirements

This role requires standing and walking for extended periods, wearing lead aprons during procedures, and occasional stooping, crouching, twisting, kneeling, squatting, and sitting. Ability to lift and support weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds is necessary.

Working Environment

Work may involve exposure to chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, radiation, and other hazards, as well as variations in temperature, noise, and odors.
