Chairman of the Department of Medicine

A health services organization in New York City is currently seeking an experienced, licensed Physician to join their staff as their new Chairman of the Department of Medicine. In this role, the Chairman will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the Department of medicine and its sections, including budgeting, section meetings, Morbidity & Mortality Reviews and development of clinical protocols and policies.

Responsibilities:

The Chairman of the Department of Medicine will:

• Oversee quality / clinical management; participate on committees to improve quality and enhancement of services
• Establish and monitor critical pathways, guidelines and protocols in collaboration with the department of medicine divisions, Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Medical Officer
• Oversee, along with the Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, medical interns and residents
• Manage and coordinate teaching activities of the department, including affiliated medical schools
• Represent the department at medical board and other committees
• Oversee the sections within the Department of Medicine, including leadership development, rules & regulations, new and updated policies & procedures
• Assist in credentialing of new applicant to the Department and its subsections
• Participate in developing reward and recognition programs for Physicians and other staff
• Oversee performance of medical staff, sets goals, and delivers feedback
• Participate in recruitment, retention and development of staff and succession planning
• Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• Licensed to practice Medicine in the State of New York
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine
• 10 years of clinical experience; 5+ years of Administrative experience
