Salary Range: $78,773.63 - $122,099.12

The Education Specialist plays a vital role in fulfilling the goals of our organization by leveraging their expertise as an educator, performance consultant, and collaborative leader. This position is crucial in enhancing our clinical workforce through effective educational strategies and development programs.

Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:00-4:30pm with occasional off-shift and weekend rotations to address the educational needs of Albany Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support preceptors in creating comprehensive orientation programs for new staff.
  • Oversee staff orientation and continued professional development.
  • Utilize conflict resolution principles to foster consensus within teams.
  • Represent Case Management/Social Work in organizational committees as needed.
  • Act as the liaison to executive leadership, connecting with continuum of care providers and public agencies.
  • Interpret relevant laws, policies, and operational procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in policy development, standards of care, and monitoring processes.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of healthcare regulations related to access, delivery, and financing across the care continuum.
  • Ensure effective service provision while adhering to regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (strongly preferred).
  • Board Certification in relevant specialty (strongly preferred).
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Nursing, Education, or an allied health field with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.
  • 3-5 years of direct critical care experience preferred.
  • Experience in Clinical Social Work or Nursing with exposure to Case Management, Utilization Review, and Discharge Planning.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Proven clinical competency in a nursing or allied health specialty.
  • Prior experience in educational program development and teaching is preferred.
  • Strong ability to build collegial relationships internally and externally.
  • Exceptional skills in reading, analyzing documents, and engaging in dialogue.
  • Effective communication skills—both oral and written—and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership and team-building skills are essential.

The Education Specialist is committed to enhancing staff performance through the development of educational activities that align with the needs of our nursing organization. 

Principal Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of systems that enhance staff involvement in practice, research, education, and quality improvement, fostering a collaborative environment where nursing professionals can practice at their highest level of licensure. This role also includes participation in the creation and evaluation of orientation and continuing education programs, linking educational outcomes to quality care and patient outcomes.
