Join our dedicated team of Registered Professional Nurses in the Medical/Surgical Cardiac Hospitalist department. We are seeking compassionate and skilled nurses who are committed to providing exceptional care to our patients and assisting them throughout their hospital journey. Your role will be crucial in implementing care strategies and ensuring a seamless experience for patients as they progress towards discharge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement physician orders, administer medications, initiate IVs, and perform necessary treatments and procedures, documenting all actions in accordance with institutional policies and regulations.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions effectively.
• Regularly assess and evaluate patient needs, tracking their responses to care provided.
• Utilize sound nursing judgment to make informed patient care management decisions.
• Provide both primary and emergency care for a range of injuries and illnesses.
• Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as directed.
• Collaborate with the nursing team to develop and maintain an effective Plan of Care for all patients.
• Guide and direct ancillary personnel while upholding professional nursing standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree).
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license is required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is mandatory.
• Previous experience as a Patient Care Assistant or in a similar nursing support role is preferred.
• Commitment to ongoing education to enhance job performance.
• Knowledge of quality principles and problem-solving tools to support patient care quality improvement initiatives.

The Medical Cardiology unit is a vibrant 29-bed unit consisting of 1 private room, 13 semi-private rooms, and a 4-bed room. Our patients come from various sources, including the Emergency Department and Electrophysiology Lab, requiring telemetry monitoring during their care. They represent a diverse age group, from young adults (18 years) to seniors (100+ years), facing a variety of cardiac and medical diagnoses.
