About the Unit:
The Colorectal Surgery and Urology Unit offers 22 semi-private rooms, caring for patients post-surgery. This team environment collaborates closely with Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses for specialized ostomy and wound care. As a valued member of the nursing team, you will attend to patients' needs related to TPN, NG tubes, and central lines.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing physician orders and administering medications
- Starting IVs and performing various treatments and procedures
- Assessing and evaluating patient conditions and responses to care
- Working in partnership with the nursing team to develop individualized care plans
- Providing primary and emergency care for diverse patient needs
- Maintaining professional nursing standards and guiding support staff
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's degree)
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license
- BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC certification (must be maintained)
- 1-3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a fast-paced setting
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development
- Familiarity with quality improvement principles and practices
