As a Clinical Nurse II, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care in the Medical Cardiology unit. You will assess, coordinate, plan, direct, implement, and manage the needs of patients throughout their care episode, with a focus on their progress toward discharge. Your responsibilities encompass the delivery and coordination of care provided by the healthcare team, ensuring all patients and referring facilities receive competent, compassionate service in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Implementing physician orders, administering medications, and starting IVs while performing necessary treatments and special tests.
- Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to accurately assess patient conditions.
- Assessing and evaluating patient needs and responses to care provided.
- Utilizing sound nursing judgment for effective patient care management decisions.
- Providing primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administering over-the-counter and prescription medications as directed.
- Collaborating with the nursing team to create comprehensive Plans of Care for all patients.
- Providing guidance to ancillary personnel while upholding professional nursing standards.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree).
- Current New York State Registered Nurse license is required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is mandatory.
- Prior experience as a PCA or nursing assistant is preferred.
- A commitment to continuous education for performance improvement.
- Knowledge of quality concepts and techniques, with the ability to apply them in supporting patient care quality improvements.
Unit Overview:
The Medical Cardiology unit features 29 beds, including one private room, 13 semi-private rooms, and one four-bedroom area. Patient admissions come from various sources including the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities. The patient population includes both acute and chronically ill individuals with a range of cardiac and medical diagnoses requiring telemetry monitoring after invasive and minimally invasive cardiac procedures.
