Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Cardiology
The Registered Nurse plays a critical role in assessing, coordinating, planning, and managing the needs of assigned patients during their care journey, with a strong focus on ensuring smooth transitions toward discharge. This position is responsible for the delivery and coordination of high-quality, compassionate patient care across various settings, including inpatient, ambulatory, and community environments.
The Medical Cardiology unit is a 29-bed facility that accommodates diverse patients who require telemetry monitoring and treatment for various cardiac and medical conditions. Our patients range from young adults to geriatric individuals, all needing specialized care following minimally-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, and document care in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
- Continuously assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care.
- Utilize sound nursing judgment in patient care decisions.
- Provide primary and emergency care for various injuries and illnesses.
- Administer medications, both over-the-counter and prescription, as ordered.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to develop individualized Plans of Care for each patient.
- Guide and direct ancillary personnel to maintain professional nursing standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate from a recognized nursing program, holding a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
- Must possess a current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are required.
- Prior experience as a PCA or nursing assistant is preferred.
- A commitment to continuous education and improving job performance is necessary.
- Understanding of quality improvement concepts and the ability to apply them in patient care settings is essential.
