This specialty unit cares for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries, catheterizations, structural heart interventions, and electrophysiological procedures, all in a setting that provides intensive telemetry monitoring.

Preferred Advanced Skills: Familiarity with cardiac rhythm interpretation and management, vasoactive and antiarrhythmic medications, and chest tube management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments and procedures.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care.
  • Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer medications as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to develop comprehensive care plans for patients.
  • Guide ancillary personnel and uphold professional nursing standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree).
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • 1-3 years of clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
  • Strong communication, organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement concepts and problem-solving techniques.
