Salary Range: $72,072.00 - $74,229.26

The Med Surg Float Pool Nurse provides essential patient care across various departments, including medicine, post-surgical, and emergency care settings.

As a Clinical Nurse, you will assess, coordinate, plan, direct, implement, and manage patient care throughout their time in the hospital, ensuring smooth transitions and a focus on discharge readiness. Your role will play a critical part in delivering competent and compassionate care to a diverse group of patients, referring facilities, and hospital staff, in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

Hourly Range: $36.73 - $60.93

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, initiate IVs, perform treatments and procedures, and document care as per policy and regulations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions comprehensively.
  • Continuously assess and evaluate patient needs, tailoring care based on their responses and requirements.
  • Exercise sound judgment in managing patient care decisions and provide immediate care for injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer both over-the-counter and prescription medications as needed.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to design and implement individualized care plans.
  • Guide and direct ancillary staff, maintaining high standards of professional nursing practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained and maintained.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years clinical RN experience is required, with at least 1 year in Telemetry or ICU settings.
  • A commitment to continuing education for professional development.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement principles and the application of problem-solving techniques in patient care.
