Join our dedicated team in the Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU), where we provide specialized care to critically ill adult patients, aged 14 and older. Our unit consists of 30 intensive care beds, with a balanced mix of neuro and surgical patients.
The SICU and Neuro ICU focuses on treating life-threatening conditions arising from major elective and emergency surgeries, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, strokes, seizures, sepsis, multi-organ failure, and hemodynamic instability. As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive physical assessments
- Intensively monitoring and treating laboratory values
- Managing ventilators and hemodynamic status
- Utilizing advanced technologies such as ICP monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and continuous renal replacement therapy
Your role may also involve supporting on-unit procedures, including:
- Placement of arterial and central lines
- External ventricular drains and ICP monitors
- Chest tubes and tracheostomies
- Lumbar punctures and abdominal washouts
The hourly salary range for this position is $34.65 - $35.69, with an annual salary of $68,640.00 - $70,699.20.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement physician orders and administer medications
- Start IVs and perform necessary treatments and procedures
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care
- Administer primary and emergency care
- Collaborate with the nursing team on patient care plans
- Guide and direct ancillary personnel to maintain high nursing standards
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree)
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Strong communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills
- Knowledge of quality concepts and ability to implement them in patient care.
