Position Summary: As a CT Imaging Specialist, you will play a vital role in performing advanced medical imaging procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist. This position requires expertise in cross-sectional anatomy and a comprehensive understanding of diagnostic CT exams and interventional procedures. Utilize your independent judgment and technical skills to deliver high-quality diagnostic images and assist in interventional processes.

Education/Certification: A high school diploma or GED is required, along with graduation from an ARRT-approved Radiological Technology School program. You must hold registration and certification with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, and the appropriate licensure. Keeping current with ARRT continuing education requirements and maintaining an active ARRT certificate is essential. Additionally, advanced certification in Computerized Tomography from ARRT is expected within your first year. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support is also required at the time of hire.

Competencies: The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of CT exams and interventions, along with a strong understanding of physics, anatomy, medical terminology, sterile techniques, and radiation protection. Excellent communication skills in English are a must. You should be willing to collaborate with department staff and participate in rotational call and holiday hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that patients' clinical data accurately matches the ordered exam and communicate with the referring physician’s office if discrepancies arise.
  2. Assist the Radiologist during interventional procedures while coordinating patient medical needs with the Radiology Nurse.
  3. Screen female patients of childbearing age for pregnancy risks prior to procedures.
  4. Demonstrate skill in IV insertion as required.
  5. Document exams accurately in the radiology system for proper billing.
  6. Manage your own schedule and patient flow effectively, adapting to accommodate emergency requests as they arise.
  7. Exhibit competency in performing all types of CT scans and handle the processing of exams using the teleradiology system during off-shift hours.
  8. Choose appropriate protocols based on patient age and size.
  9. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in the Meditech system, ensuring all items are billed correctly.
  10. Transport patients when necessary.
  11. Conduct quality assurance in compliance with guidelines from the American College of Radiology for CT.
  12. Provide patients with clear post-exam instructions, including information on hydration and result timelines.
  13. Troubleshoot any electronic equipment issues, including scanners and workstations.
  14. Respond to call-based requests to perform procedures, potentially at affiliate or contracted locations.
  15. Collaborate effectively with the Medical Imaging Team, demonstrating Core Values at all times.
