Position Summary

As a Night Shift Data Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the All-Electronic Tolling (AET) system along the Turnpike. Your responsibilities will include installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and system health monitoring during off-peak hours. This is your chance to ensure that our tolling infrastructure operates at peak performance around the clock, delivering reliable, high-quality field support. We seek a self-motivated individual with a strong technical inclination and critical thinking skills. While prior low-voltage or field technician experience is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor tolling system equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electronic and mechanical components.
  • Conduct routine inspections, including weekly site walkthroughs and maintenance checks.
  • Efficiently diagnose and resolve system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain compliance with client agreements, standards, and requirements.
  • Effectively communicate with management and operations teams regarding system status and field activity.
  • Support overnight lane closures and installations as needed.
  • Safely operate equipment such as bucket trucks.

Job Functions Overview

As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for the integrity and performance of the AET system by:

  • Performing bi-annual preventive maintenance on gantry equipment.
  • Conducting regular site visits and health checks of the system.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electronic and mechanical failures.
  • Ensuring continuous uptime across all tolling locations.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Information Technology (Installation & Configuration)
    • Digital Signage Systems
    • Audio/Video Systems
    • Consumer Electronics
    • 12-Volt Electrical Systems
  • Proficient in using hand tools and diagnostic/test equipment.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exemplary customer service orientation and professionalism.
  • Organized, self-starter with keen attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams.
  • Basic computing and smartphone skills for reporting and diagnostics.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience in training or mentoring others in technical settings.
  • Low-voltage systems experience (preferred, but not required).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work overnight shifts and support highway operations.
  • Capable of operating a bucket truck during highway closures.
