Job Summary:

The Director of Tax & Assistant Treasurer leads all tax items within the company and develops the tax department as the company grows. This position works with outside tax professionals, internal finance and accounting teams, and manages/executes the processes related to transfer pricing, legal entity set up, tax provision, intercompany agreements and tax audits.

Essential Functions:

Serve as the Head of the Tax Department for Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc. and subsidiaries

Lead the development of effective and operationally sound tax strategies to reduce future tax burdens for each legal entity and the consolidated company

Oversee the preparation of all federal, state and foreign tax filings including income tax returns, property taxes, excise taxes, and sales/use tax returns

Oversee the calculation of the tax provision, developing processes to calculate and reconcile deferred tax assets and liabilities, and ensure timely filing and payment of all extensions and returns

Provide input into the tax elements of the corporate financial model and develop an effective and accurate taxable income projection

Understand the interplay, with significant knowledge of LLC's and tax partnerships, of all of our entities to arrive at our consolidated taxable income

Monitor tax legislation and advise the Company on related tax strategies

Complete all audits of federal and state filings

Ensure compliance with all SOX internal controls with respect to tax

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong understanding of various tax credits and incentives and the impact/interplay on the tax returns and tax payments (specifically the R&D Tax credit)

Knowledge of the requirements of a broad-reaching multi-jurisdictional corporation

Strong public company experience

Proven ability to prioritize the tax function and take the initiative in tax planning and strategies

Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax compliance (international experience is a plus)

Direct experience in tax planning and understanding the interplay of tax strategies and corporate goals

Ability to communicate complex tax issues to the management team

Motivated to take on challenges, be part of the planning of the company, and work with various business units to opine on tax implications for a wide range of transactions

Proven ability to prepare the tax provision and DTA,s, DTL,s and VA

Excellent research skills and the ability to communicate well with our independent auditors and tax advisors

Some property tax experience is preferred.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with a Master's degree required

CPA required

15+ years of experience in a corporate tax environment (can span both public accounting and direct company experience) required

MBA or JD preferred

Knowledge or experience in the energy or agricultural industry preferred

Legislative interaction, both Washington DC and California preferred

Experience in NOL's (Change in Ownership) and intercompany agreements and transfer pricing is preferred

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner

Able to travel as necessary
