About the Financial Controller position

We are looking for a results-driven, skilled Financial Controller who will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation. Besides you will review and develop our internal control policies and procedures as well as perform financial risk management.

Strategic planning and exceptional numerical proficiency as a Financial Controller will aid our organization in maintaining positive revenue and financial growth, formulating sound financial strategies, implementing proper internal controls, achieving organizational targets, and developing financial plans that support organizational strategy.

The ideal candidate has prior experience in the field of logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain. She or he should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organized, and have excellent leadership skills.

Financial Controller responsibilities are:

Manage day-to-day cash flow and bank reports

Coordinate weekly posting of payroll

Review and organize the entire stack of company's accounting operations: Billing, A/R, A/P, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition, GL and Counsel

Review existing technical accounting issues and develop measures to optimize them

Create and document business processes and accounting policies to optimize internal controls

Manage the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and and prepare reports on the results

Oversee company's month-end and year-end close processes

Perform quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

Oversee the preparation of regulatory reporting

Create timely monthly financial statements and present them to company's executives and top managers

Analyze financial data

Ensure the compliance with state reporting requirements, applicable laws and tax filings

Oversee the accounting team and ensure that they and all department managers conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

This is an on-site position requiring the candidate to report to our New York headquarters

3+ years' experience of working on a Financial Controller position, ideally in the field of freight forwarding or logistics

Profound experience with accounting procedures and principles

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

Significant experience with general ledger functions, the month-end/year end close process and financial statements management

Good knowledge of accounting software and MS Office

Knowledge of CargoWise is a huge plus

Strong analytical, mathematical and administration skills

Professional certification such as CPA or CMA

Minimum education of bachelor's degree accounting, business, finance or a related field
