Float Pool Registered Nurse - Full Time

Summary:
The Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in Medsurg or Telemetry settings. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nurse who can manage both routine and complex care while adhering to individualized treatment plans. The RN will develop adaptability and the ability to handle various clinical contingencies while collaborating with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate flexibility by managing assignments across multiple units.
• Provide regular updates on assignment availability.
• Utilize the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for assigned patients.
• Address the comprehensive emotional, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments following protocols, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse effects.
• Document all care, patient histories, symptoms, and interventions accurately.
• Assess learning needs and educate patients, families, and caregivers about care options.

• Communicates effectively with healthcare team members regarding patient assessments.

• Processes medical orders accurately and efficiently.

Job Requirements:

• Education/Skills: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years combined experience in Medsurg and Telemetry; 5 years preferred.
• Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; RN License in state of employment or compact required; PALS within 30 days of hire at CHRISTUS Children's Hospital; De-escalation training within 30 days of hire at SPOHN.
