Job Overview:
We are excited to invite applications for an experienced Geophysical Survey Specialist to join a dynamic team aboard a geophysical survey vessel dedicated to supporting offshore wind farm developments. This role plays a crucial part in the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of marine geophysical data essential for site characterization and foundation design.
We are looking for a proactive individual with hands-on experience in offshore geophysical survey techniques, data quality control, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams onboard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the acquisition and QC of geophysical survey data, ensuring integrity and adherence to project specifications.
- Operate and monitor advanced geophysical equipment, including MBES, SSS, SBP, Magnetometer, and Seismic systems.
- Perform real-time data validation and collaborate with onboard personnel for optimized survey operations.
- Conduct initial processing and interpretation of collected data to identify significant geological and geohazard features.
- Provide assistance in troubleshooting and maintaining geophysical survey equipment.
- Work closely with Client Representatives, Party Chiefs, and Survey Engineers to ensure efficient and high-quality data acquisition.
- Contribute to daily reporting, ensuring meticulous documentation of survey progress and technical discoveries.
- Commit to HSE policies and foster a strong safety culture onboard.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 3+ years in offshore geophysical surveys, preferably related to offshore wind, oil & gas, or cable route surveys.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in geophysical data acquisition and processing software (e.g., Oasis Montaj, SonarWiz, QPS Qimera, Geotools, or similar).
Certifications: Valid offshore certifications, including:
- BOSIET/FOET (with CA-EBS)
- GWO (preferred but not essential)
- Medical Certificate (OGUK or equivalent)
- Seaman's Book (if required for the region)
Equipment Knowledge: Hands-on experience with various geophysical survey sensors, including multibeam echosounders, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profilers, magnetometers, and seismic systems.
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.
