General Statement of Duties:

Potential Adjunct Faculty

Applications for this position will be held in applicant pools, whenever a position opens in any given discipline, the pool of applicants will be consulted when searching for candidates to fill any position. Applicants will not be notified of their status unless they are contacted to come in for an interview, which might occur soon after applying or as much as a year later.

Adjunct Faculty Postings are for potential part-time, non-benefited, positions during the 2025-2026 academic year.

This Health Care paramedic adjunct faculty member will teach assigned didactic and clinical courses, particularly within the Health Care curriculum (HCC). The adjunct faculty should be committed to using active learning strategies and student engagement. The adjunct faculty member will possess excellent communication skills, academic credentials, technological proficiency, and the expertise to provide students in the program with the health care skills needed for future academic and career opportunities. The adjunct faculty member may teach at the Gardner and Leominster campuses, as well as online, during the day, evening, or on weekends based on program needs. The adjunct faculty may also teach HCC course sections for dual enrollment and/or early college students either on the Gardner Campus or on site at designated high school locations in the North Central Area.

Responsibilities:
  • Instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning methodologies, including but not limited to the use of learning platform technologies such as BlackBoard, active learning strategies, and instructional preparation.
  • Assessment of student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion;
  • An obligation on the part of the unit member to be available to students by appointment when mutually convenient;
  • Teaches Health Care courses (HCC) at all instructional locations as assigned by the Dean of Nursing & Health Sciences;
  • In collaboration with the Paramedic program chair and faculty, may create college laboratory learning experiences, which may include high and low-fidelity simulation, for student demonstration and evaluation of clinical skills and student learning outcomes;
  • Collaborates with the Paramedic program chair/instructors in collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data on student learning outcomes to guide curriculum development and participates in all components of CoAEMSP accreditation, including the Systematic Plan of Evaluation (SPE).
  • Maintain NREMT-Basic OR NREMT-paramedic certification, providing faculty file updates to Paramedic program chair and Human Resource Department annually;
  • Actively participates in college governance and committees per MCCC contract; and
  • Additional duties as required by the college.
POSSIBLE COURSES: HCC courses in the Paramedic program curriculum.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in course content area;
  • Evidence of competence in the area of instruction;
  • Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities;
  • NREMT- Basic.
Desired Qualifications
  • 2 years teaching experience in a community college
  • NREMT- paramedic
