Position: Heavy Civil Project Superintendent

Employment Type: Full-time

GPAC is partnering with a leading construction contractor searching for a talented and experienced Heavy Civil Project Superintendent to spearhead complex site development, utility, and water/wastewater infrastructure projects. This pivotal leadership role is essential for ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and timely completion of heavy civil projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all field operations for heavy civil site development projects with a primary focus on water, wastewater, pump stations, water mains, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and large-scale utilities.
  • Develop, refine, and manage project schedules, ensuring accurate two-week look-ahead forecasts.
  • Interpret contract drawings, specifications, and mass excavation diagrams to effectively plan and execute earthmoving, grading, and site preparation operations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, material vendors, and field crews to guarantee project milestones are achieved.
  • Manage project costs, company resources, and daily production rates effectively.
  • Enforce adherence to company safety policies, quality standards, and core values every day.
  • Conduct weekly foreman meetings and develop daily crew assignments.
  • Foster strong working relationships with owners, engineers, and inspectors.
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Create and manage comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, quantity tracking, and as-builts.
  • Assist estimating with production rates, manpower, and equipment requirements during the bidding process.

Qualifications & Experience (Required)

  • Minimum 10+ years of significant supervisory experience in heavy civil construction projects.
  • A solid background in water, wastewater, utilities, and heavy civil site development is essential.
  • Proven expertise in managing mass excavation, grading, earthwork, storm drainage, water mains, sanitary sewers, and pump stations.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex civil drawings, specifications, and excavation diagrams.
  • Experience in managing large crews and multiple subcontractors on high-value projects (preferably over $10M).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A valid driver's license and a readiness to travel extensively to project sites.

Preferred

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience with water/wastewater construction projects.
  • Proficiency with heavy equipment production (dozers, excavators, loaders, scrapers, compactors).
  • Familiarity with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
