LAB TECHNICIAN

Nature of Duties:
Performs a variety of medical laboratory technician duties under the leadership of the medical laboratory technologist involving the performance of a wide range of medical laboratory tests associated with an invasive, non-invasive, and interventional cardiovascular practice.

Specific Duties:
Performs all routine tests and analyses on patient samples according to established testing procedures in the laboratory.
Operates routine manual and /or automated equipment in order to perform assigned duties.
Participates in validating and/or writing test procedures. Adapts methodologies and evaluates new procedures or methods while maintaining open lines of communication with employees to insure that they are kept up to date with procedures and information.
Records and releases test results to be put into the computer system according to established procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of CIS and in concordance with its patient philosophy.

Qualifications:

Completion of a two year post-high school course of study leading to an associate's degree in applied science.
Registration by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a medical laboratory technician.
Current State of Louisiana certification as a clinical laboratory scientist-technician.
