Summary:

As a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, you will provide exceptional and compassionate care to our patients and their families. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to support a variety of nursing tasks including both routine and complex care, always prioritizing the needs of our patients. You will collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure optimal outcomes in our Labor and Delivery Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit leadership qualities as defined within the OneCHRISTUS Competencies framework.
  • Utilize the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
  • Address the diverse psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
  • Administer medications and treatments, monitoring patients for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and deliver education to patients and families, identifying issues and resolutions.

Core Competencies:

  1. Utilizes the Nursing Process: Employ critical thinking to assess patients and develop personalized care plans.
  2. Patient Throughput & Patient Flow Process: Anticipate and plan for admission, discharge, and transfer needs efficiently.
  3. Unit Operations: Assess and coordinate nursing care functions within the department during your shift.
  4. Safe Practice/Quality Care/Regulations: Follow guidelines that promote a safe environment for patients.

Technical Competencies:

  • Adhere to clinical policies and procedures for compliance and quality improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and handle medical records efficiently.
  • Ensure medical equipment functionality, perform checks, and educate patients on its use.
  • Process medical orders correctly and efficiently.
  • Effectively read and interpret patient charts for accurate care planning.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of RN experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
  • BLS certification required.
  • RN license in the state of employment or compact.
  • Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring and current ACLS and NRP certifications required.
