Department Manager, Marketing - B2B SaaS for Construction Industry


Position Overview:


Protiv is a venture backed early stage B2B SaaS platform providing a patent pending incentive compensation management solution. Our current target markets are the construction, landscaping and cleaning industries. We are seeking a talented Demand Generation Marketing Expert, with a deep understanding of selling B2B software into those industries, to be our first marketing hire and take on the role of Department Manager, Marketing. Remote work is possible, for the right candidate.



The role is a blend of brand marketing and demand generation, expecting that nobody has all of those skills we are wanting an expert at one who can manage outside experts at the other. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies that drive brand awareness, lead generation, pipeline growth, and revenue. This role requires expertise in multiple areas such as design, content generation, social media marketing, marketing automation and industry events, to effectively engage and convert target audiences. PR experience is helpful. 


As an early-stage software company, most of the processes and policies for this department will need to be developed by the person hired into this new role. Expect the job to be incredibly demanding, with long hours, travel to industry events in exciting places like Louisville, KY, and limited resources to accomplish the impossible . Summer Fridays? Ummm more like working on weekends while your friends laugh at your crazy hours .

Responsibilities:


Demand Generation Strategy: Develop, implement, and manage end-to-end demand generation strategies and campaigns tailored to our target industry's unique needs and challenges. 


Brand Ownership: Enforce design standards and establish a consistent brand identity across all aspects of the company, from product, marketing, sales and support. Establish Protiv as a known brand across the construction, cleaning and landscaping industries.


Public Relations: Develop Protiv's visibility in trade industries and their publications. Connect with podcast creators, publishers, editors, influencers and industry experts to expand awareness of Protiv and build marketplace validation to our innovative solution.


Content Creation: Create compelling and relevant content that resonates with construction industry professionals, including blog posts, social media ads, industry ads, whitepapers, case studies, videos, infographics, and more.


Multi-Channel Campaigns: Plan, execute, and optimize multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels, including email marketing, social media, call centers, industry events/trade shows and other channels. 


Trade Shows: Develop an event strategy that maximizes our budgets to attend and success at the most impactful trade events across multiple industries. Event selection, planning, pre-show work, execution of the events and post-show follow up will be critical to success.


Marketing Automation: Develop and execute lead nurturing workflows to guide prospects through the buyer's journey, ensuring timely and relevant communication to move leads closer to conversion. 


Data-Driven Analysis: Utilize analytics and metrics to assess campaign effectiveness, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.


Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Product and Customer Success, to align strategies, share insights, and drive cohesive initiatives that contribute to the overall business goals. (To be fair, there are only a couple of us now)


Market Research: Stay current with industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to inform marketing strategies and maintain a competitive edge. 


Budget Management: Manage allocated marketing budgets effectively, ensuring optimal allocation to high-impact activities. 


Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Design, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).


4+ years of experience in demand generation marketing/sales within the B2B sector, with a focus on products used in the construction, landscaping or cleaning industry.


Proven success in driving lead generation, pipeline growth, and revenue through innovative demand generation strategies.


Experience in content generation, including writing and editing for various formats.


Established network and familiarity with industry publications and trade shows within the construction sector.


Proficiency in utilizing marketing automation and CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Pipedrive, Marketo)


Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and extract actionable insights.


Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and initiatives simultaneously.


Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.


Creative thinker with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute innovative marketing campaigns.


Team player with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across departments.
