Job Summary
The Mass Tort Paralegal will play a vital role in assisting attorneys with fact investigation, legal research, document preparation, and database management, specifically focusing on New York asbestos litigation. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting discovery and deposition preparation.
- Participating in trial and mediation preparation.
- Analyzing factual information and assisting in the preparation of pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Managing document production and case management databases.
- Scheduling and calendaring.
- Preparing fact and expert witness lists across jurisdictions.
Essential Job Functions

- Organize and manage files independently or delegate where appropriate.
- Attend in-house CLEs and mentor Paralegal Assistants.

- Meet the billable hour requirement of 1500 hours per year.
- Deliver superior service to both internal and external customers.
- Communicate effectively and interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Exhibit strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Work collaboratively within a team, adapting to changing demands.
- Produce a high volume of quality work efficiently and accurately.
- Exercise sound judgment and decisiveness under deadlines.

Position-Specific Requirements
Qualified candidates will have:
- Experience in New York litigation (asbestos experience preferred).
- A Paralegal Certificate or a Bachelor’s degree in a law-related field, or an Associate’s degree with paralegal training.
- Preferred experience in a New York location.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be commensurate with skills and experience. Expected salary ranges for this position in various states include:
- New York: $79,000 - $116,000
