High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
General clerical experience preferred with some exposure to medical terminology.
Word processing, computer experience and medical records knowledge desired.
Candidates should have exceptional people and communication skills, be highly skilled in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, a commitment to achieving a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and a no-task-too-small approach to the work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
File records daily in appropriate sections of patient charts and keeps charts in proper order.
Maintain chronological order in placing reports in patient records.
Pull charts as needed for review.
Photocopy records when requested with proper authorization.
Sort and store all patient files.
Maintain files and records in a confidential manner. Type correspondence as requested.
Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
Answer patient calls regarding their medical records
May assist with patient appointment confirmation calls.
May assist with new patient packet mailings.
Review, sort, and process incoming transcription
Review, inventory and organize paperwork for durable medical equipment billing.
Attend meetings as required.
Maintain strict company and patient confidentiality.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of medical office procedures.
Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type simple correspondence.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make simple calculations.
Skill in operating a computer, copy and fax machine.
Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
