We're seeking a dedicated Occupational Safety and Health Advisor to join our team. In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring safe work environments across various industries, contributing to the health and well-being of employees.

Major Duties include:

GS-07:

  • Assist in planning and conducting segments of investigations under the guidance of a senior specialist.
  • Research records and data on mishaps, injuries, and equipment maintenance.
  • Audit safety plans and health injury records for compliance.
  • Document investigation findings through photographs and reports to support valid cases.
  • Prepare for outreach activities and respond to inquiries related to safety regulations and programs.

GS-09:

  • Engage in opening and closing conferences with management and employees about hazards and workplace conditions.
  • Deliver targeted outreach to educate diverse audiences on OSHA compliance and regulations.
  • Assist in planning and executing inspections at various establishments and worksites.
  • Analyze program changes and reports to ensure compliance with occupational safety standards.

GS-11:

  • Conduct safety and health inspections across a range of industries ensuring adherence to OSHA standards.
  • Investigate serious accidents, fatalities, and unsafe conditions.
  • Thoroughly prepare for inspections by understanding workplace processes and applicable standards.
  • Host opening conferences to clarify inspection purpose and procedures.
  • Support agency efforts in obtaining necessary warrants for investigations.
  • Analyze injury data to assess the effectiveness of safety programs.

GS-12:

  • Lead opening and closing conferences discussing inspection findings and associated hazards.
  • Provide targeted outreach, sharing vital information about OSHA regulations with various audiences.
  • Investigate significant accidents or incidents involving injuries or unsafe conditions.
  • Plan and conduct inspections based on complaints or established safety concerns.
  • Thoroughly inspect worksites and review safety practices, equipment, and environmental conditions.
  • Evaluate safety activities for compliance and propose necessary penalties.
  • Assist in preparing cases for hearings and testify when needed.
  • Conduct comprehensive interviews and research to identify safety violations and recommend improvements.
  • Document all findings to support effective legal cases.

As you progress in this role, you'll tackle more complex assignments with increased independence.
