On-Call CAD Designer

Responsibilities

This is an on-call position.

Noblis MSD is dedicated to supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) in their missions related to research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with an emphasis on cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings.

We are looking for an on-call CAD Designer with a strong background in submarine communication systems to join our dynamic team for special projects as required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Using advanced CAD software to develop detailed technical drawings, models, and designs for various engineering and manufacturing projects. You will leverage your expertise in engineering principles and design standards to precisely translate conceptual ideas into accurate digital models.

  • Creating both 2D and 3D models of components, assemblies, and systems, incorporating geometric and dimensional constraints to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability. Additionally, you will generate comprehensive technical drawings for manufacturing and assembly processes.

  • Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to refine design concepts, address challenges, and integrate feedback into design iterations, all while exercising independent judgment under general supervision.

  • Building and maintaining productive relationships to ensure effective customer service and ongoing project support, while being proactive in identifying and communicating project needs.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field plus 5 years of experience, an Associate’s degree and 8 years of experience, or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 11 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

  • At least 3 years of CAD and 3D design experience focused on submarine systems.

  • Capability to generate drawings for engineers and provide insights for further development.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Solidworks.

  • U.S. Citizenship with an active Top Secret clearance.

  • Experience with model-based design tools and concepts.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience within the Department of Defense (DoD).

  • Experience leading projects.

Our projected compensation range for this hourly position is $28.46 - $44.51, adjusted for part-time/on-call staff based on hours worked.
