Join our compassionate team at Albany Medical Center as a Registered Professional Nurse in the Operating Room, where you'll play a crucial role in the care and advocacy of surgical patients. You will assess, coordinate, plan, direct, implement, and manage the needs of surgical patients throughout their care episode with a focus on seamless transitions toward discharge.
As an integral part of the surgical team, you will ensure the delivery of competent and compassionate patient care, working closely with patients, referring facilities, and hospital staff across various settings, including inpatient and ambulatory care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement physician orders and administer medications within the sterile field, documenting as required by policies and regulations.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to the care provided.
- Utilize sound nursing judgment in making patient care management decisions.
- Guide and direct ancillary personnel while maintaining high standards of professional nursing practice.
- Act as a patient advocate in the surgical setting, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program; Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree preferred.
- Current New York State Registered Nurse license is required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is a must; CNOR certification is preferred.
- 1-3 years of prior clinical RN experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality concepts and problem-solving techniques, with the ability to apply these in the context of patient care and departmental improvement.
