Ophthalmic Specialist

Job Description

Join our dynamic MD/OD practice as an experienced Ophthalmic Specialist! We are seeking a dedicated individual who is either a certified ophthalmic assistant or technician, or has at least 1 year of eye care experience. Responsibilities:

• Gather and verify patient medical histories
• Conduct visual function and diagnostic tests, including applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
• Communicate changes in patient visual acuity and other eye-related issues to the ophthalmologist
• Dilate patients' eyes in preparation for eye examinations
• Advise patients on the correct usage of eye drops and medications
• Provide guidance on the proper use of contact lenses
• Assist with managing inventory

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Completion of an ophthalmic assistant or technician program (COA or COT) is strongly preferred
• Preference for candidates with experience as an ophthalmic technician or scribe
• Familiarity with EMR tools is a plus
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
