Ophthalmic Technician

La Jolla LASIK Institute is looking for a full-time ophthalmic technician who is positive, energetic and has excellent communication skills to join our team. Our ideal candidate would be able to multi-task, be positive, energetic and have excellent communication skills. Certification is preferred, but not necessary.

Responsibilities Include:

Greets patients, introduces self and guides to appropriate exam area
Does pre-testing on Auto-refractor, Pentacam, and iCare tonometry
Takes patient history, visual acuities, checks for ocular dominance
Answers ophthalmology-related patient calls and triages patients
Educates patient on pre- and post-operative care
Calls pharmacies regarding prescriptions/prior authorizations
Responsible for daily maintenance and stocking of exam lanes (open and close)
Maintains sterile technique in accordance with OSHA standards
Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Performs additional testing such as Visual Field or IOL calculations as needed
Ability to refract a plus
