A Brief Overview
The Optometrist provides optometric services to patients needing primarily diagnostic and refractive care at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
What you will do
Perform complete vision exams as needed on new and established patients with a variety of childhood and adolescent eye and vision disorders.
Work closely with the CHOP Ophthalmologist staff to coordinate care of patients, including referring more significant medical and surgical patients within the CHOP Ophthalmology practice group as appropriate.
Maintain the high diagnostic and treatment standards of the practice, including accurate documentation of the services rendered, providing education to patients and families, and delivering prompt communication to referring doctors and other care providers.
Answer patient/family questions and respond to telephone encounters that are submitted in EPIC.
Represent division of ophthalmology at outreach events.
Education Qualifications
Doctorate Optometry Required
Experience Qualifications
At least two (2) years experience as an Optometrist. Required
Previous experience in clinical optometry including general optometry, optometric examinations, refraction, contact lens prescription, diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision disorders in children Required
At least five (5) years of experience as a licensed Optometrist Preferred
Previous experience documenting clinical exams in an electronic health record Preferred
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of optometric practice, including coding and billing for optometric services.
