Key Duties & Responsibilities
Provide patient education on cast and splint care and wear
Assist the physician/PA with orthopedic casting
Position involves the application and removal of casts, splints and braces
Maintains compliance with current OSHA and infections waste
management standards
Facilitates communication between practice team and physicians to
meet patient needs
Adheres to practice's Safety, Risk Management, and Universal
Precautions standards
Utilizes EMR for provider and Medical Assistant support
Float to all offices for coverage as needed
Work cohesively with all staff/physicians
Experience, Skills and Abilities
High School diploma or GED. Accredited orthopedic technologist program preferred but not required.
Minimum one year as an orthopedic technologist, athletic trainer, MA or
CNA with casting experience required. Previous experience in orthopedic
healthcare preferred
Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language
Must have knowledge of medical terminology
Must be skilled in performance of basic computer/keyboard
functions
Must be able to communicate effectively
Must be able to organize work and establish procedures

Work may be performed in an office and clinical environment. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Use of telephone and computer is required. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. May requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
