Overall Purpose

Our Outsourcing department is responsible for our clients back office financial functions. We will complete all monthly ledger work, booking of accruals and prepayments, fixed assets, and completion of monthly management accounts. The team also control bank accounts and bank reconciliations, and in some cases make payments on behalf of the client or set up the payment runs for their approval and release.

Working as a member of the Outsourcing team, the role will be a varied mixture of duties for various clients. Responsible for providing a high-quality outsourced service to our clients on a full-time basis, it is imperative that you are flexible over month end as there are several tight deadlines during the first week of the month.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee & review the production of monthly management information as required by each client to agreed deadlines.
  • Manage account seniors and assistant managers of the client team, advising on the planning of workloads for their team members, ensuring all holidays and study leave are covered by other team members (particularly during critical client reporting) and acting as a point of escalation for people and client issues.
  • Coaching of seniors and assistant managers to promote our grow your own culture .
  • Managing team to respond to daily queries and client information requests by email and telephone, delegating tasks as required and aiding assistant managers to prioritise work by deadlines.
  • Daily detailed checking of payments made on behalf of clients for invoice batches, expenses and ad hoc payment requests and releasing where applicable from the client's bank account.
  • Reviewing complex journals, month-end reconciliations, managing information packs, and signing off internal review platforms to complete work.
  • Review of VAT returns and tax computations.
  • Management of year-end audit and tax packs, lead on audit liaison, delegating tasks to the team where appropriate.
  • Assist as needed with the production/review of Annual Statutory Accounts by our financial statement teams.
  • Assist and advise clients to ensure compliance with professional accounting standards and communicate any changes that may affect them.
  • Continuously review current practices and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness and recommend and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure that the team always complies with RSM's policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with senior team members to keep them apprised of client and team issues.
  • Work on ad hoc projects referred from the business.

Personal and professional qualities

  • Fully Qualified Chartered Accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA).
  • Familiarity with accounting/ERP systems, e.g., NetSuite, Workday, SAP etc.
  • Ability to organise and manage time efficiently and effectively.
  • Effective delegating, coaching and mentoring of teams.
  • Effective review and coaching skills to ensure junior team members are producing high-quality working papers and schedules.
  • Good written, telephonic, and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective use of IT, including Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify anomalies.
  • Ability to think "outside the box", particularly during the investigation of anomalies.
  • Proactive with good analytical skills - ability to find solutions and explain them clearly.
  • Focused on providing excellent customer service.
