Leidos is seeking Paralegal Specialists to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will thrive in a fast-paced and diverse environment, playing a crucial part in assisting our program and management team with workflows for electronic case filings (ECF).
Become an integral member of our team as you provide essential legal and technical support for the Division of Offices, Boards and Divisions at the Department of Justice. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop valuable skills, including task management, critical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage intake and track a high volume of claims efficiently.
Input claims filing information into an Excel tracking system.
Proofread settlement memos for accuracy and formatting.
Respond to requests from DOJ attorneys for filing information and data retrieval.
Conduct straightforward to moderately complex database searches.
Perform basic legal research tasks.
Assist DOJ attorneys with trial preparations.
Basic Qualifications:
A paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed. Alternatively, candidates with one year of legal training or experience, or two years of college education may qualify.
Minimum of one year of experience in litigation or related project work.
Strong background in primary litigation, including trial preparation support.
Proficient in Excel, including creating tracking spreadsheets and claims process development.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Experience with legal research platforms such as LEXIS and Westlaw is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exceptional proofreading skills.
Strong organizational capabilities.
Broad experience in general litigation support.
Previous experience in a Federal Government setting.
Trial preparation experience is a plus.
Claims processing experience will be advantageous.
This position is covered under the Service Contract Act, and the pay will be $25.58/hr.
