Payroll Coordinator

MAIN FUNCTION:

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for payroll processing, accuracy, and compliance for the Wooster Community Hospital Health System. Works collaboratively with the Payroll Associate(s) to process bi-weekly payrolls, monitor the accuracy of approved time sheets, and ensure adherence to existing payroll policies.

Director, Accounting

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum five years payroll experience, preferably in ADP Workforce Now
HRIS experience, preferably ADP Workforce Now
Advanced abilities in follow-through, organization, and attention to detail
Strong active listening, oral and written communication skills
Ability to process sensitive information in a professional, confidential, & objective manner
Demonstrated commitment to service excellence
Beginner to Intermediate Excel and Word skills
No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months, if an internal candidate

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Business/Accounting or equivalent work experience
Healthcare payroll experience
Knowledge of various retirement vehicles such as 401K, 457b, and 457f plans, and OPERS
ADP Workforce Now and Workforce Manager experience
Technical acumen pertaining to timekeeping systems, work rules, etc.
APA FPC or CPP designation

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

This position is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation, completion and related troubleshooting of system payrolls
Primary liaison with ADP
Provide expertise regarding payroll compliance
Mentors/trains other staff in payroll related functions
Reconcile/audit all tax filings submitted by ADP, as well as information provided to the City of Wooster received from ADP, to system reports, remittances and general ledger
Research emerging payroll issues, such as remote work scenarios
Generate Payroll reporting, as needed, and analyze out of balance accounts
Perform various account reconciliations and assist with the year-end close and audit process, including the 401K audit
Reconcile all payroll-related GL accounts on a fiscal-year basis
Ensure payroll processes and procedures are within IRS and DOL regulations
Identify strategic initiatives in Payroll
Work with employees at all levels to assist with system usage and troubleshoot issues related to timekeeping system
Work closely with the Human Resources Department on benefits deductions
Complete verifications of income and employment requests as needed, or refers to The Work Number
