We are seeking a Personal Care Assistant to provide non-clinical personal care and daily living support to NDIS participants. The role requires delivering services in accordance with individual support plans, NDIS Practice Standards, and organisational policies. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred personal care services, including assistance with showering, grooming, dressing, toileting, continence care, and mobility support.
  • Support clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, feeding assistance, hydration monitoring, and adherence to dietary and cultural requirements.
  • Assist clients with safe transfers, repositioning, and ambulation using mobility aids, hoists, and correct manual handling techniques.
  • Monitor clients' physical condition, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing, and report changes to supervisors or care coordinators.
  • Follow and implement individualised care and support plans to promote independence and quality-of-life outcomes.
  • Provide social and emotional support, engaging clients in conversation, recreational activities, and community participation.
  • Support clients with cognitive impairment, dementia, or behavioural challenges using reassurance and de-escalation strategies.
  • Assist with medication prompting strictly in accordance with organisational policy (no medication administration).
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic environment, performing light domestic duties such as laundry, bed making, sanitisation, and tidying.
  • Complete accurate daily progress notes, incident reports, and service documentation.
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and community outings as required.
  • Provide non-clinical palliative and end-of-life support with dignity and compassion.
  • Follow infection control procedures, including hygiene protocols and PPE use.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, allied health professionals, and family representatives.
  • Uphold confidentiality, ethical conduct, and cultural sensitivity at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing training, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, or equivalent (or willingness to obtain)
  • Minimum 1 year relevant work experience in disability, aged care, or community support
  • Knowledge of NDIS principles and person-centred care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid Australian driver licence (preferred)

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting NDIS participants
  • Manual handling and infection control knowledge
  • Cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse communities
