Position: Printing Press Operator Senior - With Lead Responsibilities
Location: Waco, TX
Shift: 1st Shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Monday-Friday)
Pay Rate: $38.43 per hour
Overtime: Required to complete assignments
Flexibility Required: Ability to start early, stay late, and cover call-ins or vacations as needed
Summary Description Reporting to the Print Department Manager, the Press Team Lead is responsible for monitoring press department KPIs and assisting with tasks that help improve and maintain performance. Primary focus areas include safety, quality, and productivity.
This role requires strong technical expertise, effective communication, and a hands-on leadership approach. A strong work ethic and commitment to safety, quality, and productivity are core to the TOPPAN culture.
What You'll Be Doing Key Responsibilities - Participate in Safety Hour activities
- Prepare productivity KPIs and communicate results to management and operators, including daily press metrics, operator comments, and weekly press downtime reports
- Ensure proper completion of department documentation, including job startup checklists and process deviation forms
- Ensure all required quality checks for intermediate products are completed and documented, including print grid checks
- Investigate customer complaints and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Partner with the Technical Manager to set up and prepare for production trials
- Utilize technical knowledge and experience to assist on press when failure triggers are met
- Participate in the CSD Team, including training new employees and assisting current employees with progression and recertification
- Communicate with management and issue work orders to appropriate machines and operators
- Ensure materials are delivered to the appropriate workstations
- Explain work order requirements and specifications to operators when necessary
- Assist operators in preparing work orders for maintenance
- Review material rejection documentation
- Communicate with IT regarding shop floor program issues
- Communicate with management regarding machine and production problems
- Assist in preparing job jackets when necessary
- Must be able to stand, climb, push, pull, and bend for job-related activities up to 12 hours
- Operate printing presses when short-staffed to ensure continuous operation
Job Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work flexible hours as operational needs require
Experience and Education - Must be a current Printing Press Operator Senior
- Minimum of 10 years of printing and laminating experience
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
Machines, Tools, and Equipment - Rotogravure printing presses
- Rotomec and Schiavi presses (preferred)
- Process printing systems utilizing CMYK
- ColorCert and X-Rite color management tools
Physical and Visual Demands Standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, reading, writing, and verbal communication for up to 12 hours as required by production needs.
