PRN Clinical Dietitian

Job Summary

• Conduct initial nutrition assessments to evaluate patient conditions.
• Perform ongoing reassessments and follow-up care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Deliver nutrition education services for both patients and staff to promote healthier choices.
• Participate in additional duties as assigned to enhance patient care and support team efforts.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Completion of a program recognized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics leading to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Must possess foundational knowledge in subspecialties such as nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, and oncology. A minimum of 15 hours of continuing education credits is needed annually, alongside staying updated on emerging research and findings in the field.

Experience

Preferred: At least six months of clinical experience in an acute care environment.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and acquisition of an Oklahoma State Dietitian license within the first six months of employment. A food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health Department is also required before or within the first week of hire. Completion of general and patient care orientation is mandatory before providing patient care.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required: Strong decision-making abilities to make prompt and rational judgments regarding patient care prioritization. The ability to identify and address potentially unsafe work conditions or practices. Proficient in the safe use of chemicals and equipment for the wellness of patients, visitors, and staff. Knowledge of various formulas and dietary recommendations for accurately assessing and fulfilling patients' nutritional needs.
