Project Management Specialist

This is a contract position within the life sciences industry focused on leading critical technology and data initiatives in a dynamic environment. We are seeking a skilled Project Manager who will play a key role in driving data modernization, enhancing project architecture, and reducing technical debt. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively across various teams, including data architecture, platform engineering, and application development, while ensuring clear communication and timely project delivery.

Note: This position requires working on a W2 basis. A comprehensive benefits package is offered, including medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, and life insurance.

Compensation: $60.00 to $65.00/hr. W2

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of data and platform modernization projects.
  • Manage and oversee project plans, schedules, resource allocation, RAID logs, and reporting using tools like Clarity PPM, Jira, Microsoft Project, and Smartsheet.
  • Handle project financials including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure alignment on project scope and technical designs.
  • Support transformation initiatives like migration from legacy platforms and integration of new data technologies.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies while maintaining structured planning as necessary.
  • Proactively identify risks and dependencies, driving mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare high-level updates and communicate progress clearly to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to uphold delivery standards.
  • Ensure compliance with PMO governance and financial controls.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of project management experience in technology, data, or enterprise systems.
  • Proven expertise in financial management including budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools such as Clarity PPM, Jira, and Microsoft Project.
  • Successful delivery experience within a wagile environment that combines both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Background in data platforms, architecture, and design.
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to drive projects with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with data management tools like Databricks or Informatica is a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture and technical debt remediation is preferred.
  • Certifications such as PMP, CSM, or SAFe are desirable.

Education Requirements:

  • PMP, CSM, or SAFe certification is preferred.
