Schedule Details:
Nights, 8 and 12-hour shifts, every third weekend, holiday rotation
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 for 3rd Shift
Student Loan Forgiveness: Up to $20,000
Tuition Assistance: Up to $7,200
RN Referral Bonus: $5,000 (for existing Advocate Aurora employees)
Unit Overview:
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit, caring for patients with complex medical needs, including:
- Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections
- Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries
- Stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program
- High volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients
As a member of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII), you will encounter the latest neurosurgical techniques and advanced care practices.

- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based patient care using the nursing process
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure compassionate care
- Utilize clinical judgment and critical thinking to support patient outcomes
- Enhance the overall patient experience across the care continuum

Major Responsibilities:
- Assess patient needs, implement individualized care plans, and evaluate their effectiveness
- Monitor changes in patient conditions and adjust care plans proactively
- Enhance patient safety and education, tailoring learning approaches for families
- Coordinate discharge planning with an interdisciplinary team
- Evaluate patient and unit outcomes, actively participating in quality improvement initiatives
- Foster collaboration among healthcare team members, providing effective leadership
- Respond to patient safety threats and report events promptly
- Uphold ethical standards and respect for peers and patients
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Completion of an accredited Nursing program
- Typically requires at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience
Skills:
- Strong holistic patient care perspective
- Confident in recognizing and responding to situational changes
- Proficient with electronic medical records and communication tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Demonstrated team-building and delegation skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, stand, walk, and perform essential nursing tasks. May be exposed to chemicals and infectious materials, requiring protective equipment. Must have functional abilities for patient care tasks.
