The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Research Officer (Mental Health - Innovation Evaluation and Research) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our -strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Conduct literature reviews, source information, develop research protocols, navigate Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and Site Specific Assessment (SSA) processes
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge in the specialist area including new developments, research and evidenced based practice
  • Support the progress of both existing and new evaluation and research projects within MHSS, including those focused on priority areas such has Suicide Prevention, Mental Health crisis care, and Child and Youth.
  • Engage with and develop positive working relationships with clinical and administrative staff

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • While not mandatory, a Masters or a high research degree would be well regarded
  • While not mandatory, evidence of publications in peer reviewed journals would be well regarded
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary part time (38 hrs p.f, 6 months with the possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $54.83 - $59.66 per hour

About Us

The Innovation, Evaluation and Research (IER) Unit at Gold Coast Mental Health and Specialist Services has been funded to bring high level evaluation and research expertise (design, implementation, evaluation and dissemination) to innovation projects, service evaluation and research activities. The IER Unit collaborates closely with service directors, clinicians, and academic partners to support research and evaluation initiatives. The IER Officer position will support relevant research and evaluation projects within the Mental Health and Specialist Services and work closely to support the Heads of Research (Adult and Youth) and IER Coordinator.
