PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The Security Engineer - Software Security Specialist will oversee the implementation of crucial security measures to safeguard our data, networks, and computer systems, focusing on security fundamentals for effective threat detection, investigation, and response.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Engineering, implementing, and monitoring security measures for the protection of our computer systems, networks, and information.

  • Identifying and defining system security requirements.

  • Designing computer security architecture and developing comprehensive cybersecurity designs.

  • Preparing and documenting standard operating procedures and protocols.

  • Configuring and troubleshooting security infrastructure devices.

  • Creating technical solutions and developing new security tools to mitigate vulnerabilities and automate tasks.

  • Leading IT groups and business units in resolving compatibility issues between security tools and business programs.

  • Analyzing suspected malicious code and software, providing both written and verbal reports to management.

  • Assessing client and customer needs and delivering clear reports to leadership.

  • Collaborating with management on assigned projects throughout the implementation process, ensuring effective communication and user involvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least eight (8) years of experience with encryption technologies, digital forensics, network topologies, and access controls or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP services.

  • Familiarity with audit and compliance standards.

  • Experience with vulnerability management.

  • Knowledge of penetration testing methodologies.

  • Proficient with various operating systems.

  • Experience with desktop productivity software.

  • Knowledge of Carbon Black Protection.

  • Experience with Symantec Endpoint Protection and host data loss prevention.

  • Understanding of information technology security frameworks.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, alongside strong presentation abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.

  • Adept at producing comprehensive, clear, and constructive written reports.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a team environment.

  • Commitment to meeting or exceeding performance expectations.

Proficient in Snyk for Application Security: Proven expertise in integrating Snyk into CI/CD pipelines to proactively detect and address vulnerabilities in open-source dependencies, container images, and infrastructure as code. Skilled in utilizing Snyk's developer-focused tools to maintain secure codebases, enforce security policies, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Experienced in configuring automated scans, interpreting results, and working with development teams to implement effective remediation strategies, fostering a robust DevSecOps culture.
