POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant position in the Financial Reporting department is critical to both the short-term goals of efficiency and quality in our external and internal financial reporting as well as our long-term goals of process optimization and best-in-class external reporting. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial reporting team, as outlined in the Key Responsibilities section below, but will also be expected to bring and apply her or his industry/client experiences to enhance our existing processes. The position demands close and regular coordination and collaboration with various personnel within the controllership, finance, treasury, legal, property management and other groups within the organization.
Short-term success in this role will be defined by the ability to quickly understand our existing reporting processes and related technical accounting concepts, while long-term success will be defined by a track record of accurate deliverables, integration within the financial reporting team and accounting department as a whole and implemented process improvement in areas applicable to the Senior Accountant.
The Senior Accountant will complete a three-person financial reporting team. This team has a combined 19 years of ESRT experience and will use said experience to provide an exceptional transition for applicant and bestow a wealth of industry experience that will serve the applicant well during their time at ESRT and beyond.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and assist in the SEC and stand-alone reporting processes
Prepare footnote disclosures to be included in the Company's consolidated financial statements through collaboration with our various departments
Prepare sections of the quarterly Supplemental Operating and Financial Data report
Assist with providing support for earnings press releases and other public documents including investor presentations
Assist in the completion of the monthly and quarterly consolidation process
Prepare clear workbooks in support of financial statement line items and disclosures such as stock- based compensation expense, interest rate swap derivatives, earnings per share, and share buy backs.
Collaborate with property accounting team to prepare consolidated and stand-alone property variance analyses for MD&A disclosures and challenge variance explanations provided
Prepare and review various required financial covenant calculations
Liaison with internal and external auditors to facilitate a timely audit process and report to various stakeholders on the status of internal/external audits
Keep abreast of accounting developments and stay up-to-date on the most recent accounting standard updates.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ ABILITIES
Strong analytical and communication skills (oral and written)
Self-starter who understands the "why" before executing a task
Controls based mindset
Ability to demonstrate strong excel skills by coaching others in the usage of functions such as v-lookup, pivot tables, process mapping
Experience with data management and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Altryx, RPA) preferred
Experience with Yardi functionality is preferred
Ability to collaborate with various business groups and develop solid business relationships, being flexible and adapting approach and style
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
2-3 years of Big 4 audit experience with a public real estate company client base or;
Minimum of 3 years equivalent public REIT experience
CPA license or in the process of obtaining a CPA license

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. Salary is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, job location, size of property where applicable, and/or certifications.
