Senior Cost Accountant

Stant is hiring for a Senior Cost Accountant located in the Rochester Hills, MI or Connersville, IN area. The role will ensure the accuracy of the global company part standard costs; including the creation of the new standards for the budget and rolling them in the accounting systems at the beginning of the fiscal year. Be the expert in the costing process for the accounting system and able to research cost variances that arise.

Senior Cost Accountant Key Functions:

Work with the plant personnel to ensure the accuracy of the building blocks of the company standard cost calculations (BOMs, routings, OEE, etc.). This includes training the new plant engineers who join any company locations.
Work with purchasing to ensure material costs are correct (currency, unit of measure, contractual changes, forecast changes, etc.).
Will be the global business process owner ("BPO") over the BOM's and routings.
Work with program managers and manufacturing engineers for accurate and timely system setup for pre-production and launch activity to meet customer demands.
Calculate the global company part cost standards for the budget.
Roll the global company cost standards at the beginning of each physical year.
Work with plant personnel to research standard margin variances and manufacturing variances each month.
Ensure part number consistency across the global company.
Run the costing process for the headquarters entities.
Work with accounts payable, purchasing and plant receiving to reconcile differences between PO, receipt and invoice.
Calculate intercompany profit in inventory each month.
Calculate variances to be capitalized.
Review revenue recognition issues as it relates to INCO terms.
Ensure accuracy of inventory balances and sub ledger equals general ledger each month.
Work with outside auditors during the audit process to ensure all information relating to the costing process is provided as requested.
Work with outside tax preparers to prepare all cost process information requests for the filing of the annual tax returns.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or minimum 5-10 years related experience and/or training.
Required PC skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Ability to utilize team concepts, along with solid organizational and problem-solving skills.
