Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic Senior District Operations Manager to oversee the financial performance and productivity of multiple operating units within our organization. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our teams meet or surpass their annual targets while successfully implementing key organizational initiatives. This position also involves onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and managing the performance of all District Managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic operating plan that aligns with long-term objectives, enhances overall effectiveness, and clarifies responsibilities and authority.
  • Lead and develop a diverse team, including Landfill Operations Managers, Operations Specialists, Scalehouse Attendants, Laborers, and Heavy Equipment Operators.
  • Continuously review and evaluate performance metrics within your area of responsibility and establish effective performance measures.
  • Provide guidance to managers on executing programs; adjust work plans as needed based on changing business conditions.
  • Timely development of the unit budget while forecasting financial and human resource needs for future periods.
  • Assist managers in optimizing budgets and ensure compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Oversee personnel needs by selecting, coaching, and training employees, as well as evaluating performance and providing input on compensation, promotions, and terminations.
  • Organize and schedule necessary resources to effectively accomplish activities.
  • Attend regular Profit and Loss (P&L) reviews, ensuring adherence to prescribed programs related to equipment utilization, maintenance, labor, and material costs.
  • Implement and maintain programs aimed at enhancing safety, productivity, and profitability while ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with union employees at the Orchard Ridge Landfill.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or High School Diploma/GED combined with two years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Landfill Operations Management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing a team of two or more individuals.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required throughout employment.

Physical Requirements

This position involves a mix of office and field environments, requiring regular use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
