We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a Data Solutions team within the Platform Product Group.
The Platform Product Group is committed to establishing a trusted, scalable, and compliant infrastructure. Our mission revolves around maximizing velocity, efficiency, and quality by developing foundational elements utilized across various products and teams at Coinbase, ensuring our users enjoy a consistent and high-quality experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and manage top-tier engineering teams to guide the development of transformative features, services, and infrastructure.
Coach and mentor your direct reports to positively influence the organization and foster their professional growth.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to convert our vision into a well-defined quarterly roadmap. Decompose complex projects into manageable segments and lead iterative design and implementation processes.
Serve as a thoughtful technical advisor within the team, contributing to crucial architectural decisions, while promoting a culture of high-quality code and refined engineering processes. Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of distributed systems at scale.
Work with our talent acquisition team to identify and recruit exceptional engineers who resonate with Coinbase's culture and enhance our products.
Take ownership of processes that enhance engineering quality and align with our engineering SLAs.
What We Seek in You:
9+ years of experience managing critical datastore infrastructure focused on high transaction throughput, production reliability, migration, and technological evolution.
Proven track record of architecting and scaling databases with partitioning, sharding, distributed databases, caching, and router/proxy management.
Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including engines like Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, and ElasticSearch.
Real-world experience in designing scale-out infrastructure and troubleshooting performance/reliability issues in distributed environments.
Demonstrated leadership in advancing developer experience and velocity while implementing standards through self-service tools.
Experience managing infrastructure budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to drive efficiency, optimization, and strategic advancement.
Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts and guidelines to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to build and nurture multiple sub-teams with a compelling vision and practical approach to dependencies and priorities.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position ranges as follows: $253,895-$298,700 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase additionally include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
