RK&K is excited to announce an opening for a Senior Project Management Planner to enhance our dynamic team. This role involves diverse projects across transportation infrastructure, water resources, utilities, and site development. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be pivotal in navigating Florida's regulatory landscape, managing current projects, leading project teams, and collaborating closely with regulatory agencies and clients.
In your role as an environmental planner at RK&K, you will engage in project development, environmental analysis and compliance, interagency coordination, and public outreach services for infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on adhering to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Essential Functions
- Facilitate effective coordination among engineers, design teams, and various environmental disciplines (e.g., cultural resources, natural resources, community resources, air and noise considerations, Section 4(f)/recreational resources, and hazardous materials) to create project alternatives, minimize impacts, and inform decision-making.
- Conduct NEPA assessments and environmental compliance reviews for public infrastructure projects, which includes researching, organizing information, evaluating environmental impacts and alternatives, and preparing comprehensive documents and technical reports.
- Execute studies in accordance with NEPA, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, Section 4(f) of the US Department of Transportation Act, along with related state and federal regulations.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and elected officials.
- Design and implement public involvement programs, outreach materials, and responses to public comments.
- Lead meetings and presentations for existing and prospective clients.
- Manage task deliverables while executing QA/QC reviews and procedures.
- Conduct client presentations and interviews.
- Maintain regular communication with clients through progress meetings.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, Environmental Policy, Environmental or Biological Sciences, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of technical and management experience in environmental assessments, community impact assessments, environmental permitting/analysis, transportation project development, or community/urban planning.
- Experience working on projects necessitating compliance with State and/or Federal regulations.
- Proven experience with clients such as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), FDEP, USACE, USFWS, or Florida Power & Light (FPL).
- Experience with municipal projects.
- Exceptional verbal and technical writing skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong research and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented, energetic, and reliable with a solid work ethic.
- Highly responsive to client and project needs.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 15 years of experience with environmental assessments, community impact assessments, environmental permitting/analysis, transportation project development, or community/urban planning.
- Credentials such as American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Professional Engineer (PE), Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), or a plan for future credential acquisition.
- Familiarity with the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) StateWide Environmental Project Tracker.
- A graduate degree in a related field is advantageous.
- Experience or knowledge of geographic information systems.
