General Summary:
The Senior Risk Evaluator is responsible for assessing and ensuring the profitable selection and retention of business within established authority limits. This role requires strong collaboration with sales teams, brokers, and internal partners.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Consult with sales and service partners to identify products and plan options that align with customer needs.
- Evaluate risks to ensure profitable acquisition of new cases and sustained retention of existing ones.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to meet business guidelines and profitability targets, while identifying and addressing risk trends.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of company products, sales processes, implementation procedures, and market influences.
- Provide dependable, accurate, and timely service while fostering relationships with internal and external partners.
- Assist in mentoring and training junior underwriters, fostering their technical development.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience.
- Proven proficiency at the Underwriter level.
- In-depth knowledge of product provisions, plan designs, pricing, and contractual benefits.
- Expertise in risk selection and analysis.
- Understanding of top-line and bottom-line business objectives.
- Familiarity with the sales and distribution process and current market trends.

The base salary range for this position is $53,300.00 to $100,700.00. Actual pay will be based on skills, geographical location, and experience.
Additionally, Unum provides a competitive benefits portfolio including healthcare (health, vision, dental), insurance (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentives, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching up to 5% plus an additional 4.5% contribution. Benefits are subject to individual plan terms and conditions.
