Position Overview:
Confluent is on the lookout for skilled software engineers to join our Traffic team, responsible for developing and maintaining the network infrastructure of Confluent Cloud. This role is key to advancing our cloud networking capabilities, impacting both our financial growth and operational efficiency. The focus will be on optimizing the data plane for handling traffic to and from Kafka clusters effectively.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop software that powers the essential Confluent Cloud network data plane, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Take ownership of software projects, successfully delivering complex solutions focused on quality in production.
- Leverage open-source technologies to drive business impact.
- Diagnose and resolve issues within a complex technical architecture that spans multiple cloud providers, considering microservices, containers, and virtualization.
Your Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure or cloud networking.
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies.
- Strong foundation in distributed systems design and development.
- Demonstrated experience in building and managing large-scale systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of systems-level concepts (disk, network, operating systems, etc.).
- Proficient in C++, Go, Python, or other statically typed programming languages.
- A proactive self-starter who excels in collaborative team environments.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A robust networking background coupled with software engineering experience.
