Ally is seeking an innovative and passionate individual who can plan, coordinate, architect, and supervise low-level design activities related to the standing up Human Capital Management (HCM) and integration to the current applications, and third-party solutions as required to meet the business requirements of the organization.

The Solution Architect collaborates with other architects, the technology delivery team, and the technology infrastructure team to define architectural approaches and solutions, conducts business reviews, document current systems in the portfolio, and recommend how to proceed with the applications (replace, retire, maintain, etc.). The position develops and tailors application design concepts and implementation plans for the efficient transformation of the current application portfolio. The SA is also responsible for developing and maintaining application design patterns, overseeing the development of application components and overseeing performance and security testing of application modules and interfaces. This role will also identify emerging trends and thought leadership in software development and introduce these to the application/project as well as the enterprise.

The Work Itself

The Solution Architect discipline defines the application architecture for Ally's corporate technologies focusing on the mapping of IT capabilities to business needs. The focus is on defining the relationships, flows and implementation of business (processes/activities/functions/information), applications, data and technology in the organization and the transitional process necessary for implementing technology in response to changing business needs.
  • Create and maintain architectural best practices by addressing application, data, and technology in the context of business processes across the division
  • Articulate the value proposition of solutions/services to senior teams from client/prospect with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Translate business requirements into technical requirements and solutions by planning, developing, and refining to-be architecture
  • Design and development of event processing-based applications and effort estimation
  • Provide leadership direction and accountability for strategic application architecture plans, system design, and implementation

The Skills You Bring
  • Required: 7+ years formal solution architecture, integration design and implementation experience in HCM Products (preferably Workday and any related certifications), as well as developing and implementing application strategies, patterns, processes, and procedures
  • 5+ years of experience in implementing solutions in public cloud (preferably AWS Cloud) and SaaS applications
  • Demonstrated ability to identify gaps of cross-functionally between HR processes and HR systems, as well as implementing process improvements and technology to ensure operational excellence and instill innovation
  • 10+ years overall IT experience involving:
    • Agile Methodologies
    • Object Oriented Analysis and Design
    • Design Patterns (Core, J2EE and EAI)
    • Capacity Planning for High Availability: Application Servers and Database
    • DevSecOps
    • Test Automation
  • Preferred: in-depth HRIS experience and HR data management including working with confidential information and critical business processes with a solid understanding of HR business procedures and practices
  • Preferred: in-depth and hands-on experience in HCM suite of tools (preferably Workday), and solid understanding of reporting analytics, Data Warehousing concepts and methodologies
