What You'll Do:

The Senior Tax Accountant - Indirect Tax will have the opportunity to provide their expertise across the spectrum of tax in addition to the main duties related to indirect tax listed below-

Compile and reconcile sales and use tax data and marijuana tax data
Prepare, file and process payments for the monthly, quarterly or annual sales and use tax filings and marijuana tax filings
Assist with sales and use tax audits and marijuana tax audits
Assist in developing the processes for the indirect tax function and building out the team
Develop a comprehensive view of all Curaleaf indirect taxes
Provide assistance and guidance on property tax and other indirect taxes
Develop best practices around the organization, data gathering and filing of indirect taxes
Provide assistance with other areas of tax including Federal and State income tax
Provide timely assistance and support to other departments or operations on tax related matters.
Monitor new tax and financial reporting developments
Assist with the research, documentation and advise on tax matters related to tax legislation and various business transactions including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, etc.
Participate in the development and implementation of tax strategies

Who You Are:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
CPA and/or MST preferred
2-5 years of experience in a Big 4 / regional public accounting firm or corporate tax function of a publicly-traded company
Sales and use tax filings experience strongly preferred
Marijuana tax experience preferred but not required
Solid experience with tax research and documentation of related conclusions
Research and documentation skills; ability to independently research and document findings on complex tax issues
Solid business acumen with the ability to work collaboratively with others as an effective, responsive internal advisor
Professional demeanor and appetite for challenge and change
Ability to adapt to changing priorities, and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining accuracy and quality
Continuous improvement mindset and proven experience in re-engineering key tax functions or identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives
Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly and to interface with colleagues at all levels within the organization
Occasional travel required
Subject to background check per state cannabis regulations
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
Experience with various sales and use tax software systems a plus
Hands-on experience with financial reporting systems
